The practical view
DART focuses on cases with more significant work impact than recordability alone. The formula is DART cases × 200,000 ÷ total hours worked. Like TRIR, it is a lagging indicator and can be highly sensitive to a small number of cases.
What to do with the information
Review DART alongside case-management quality, return-to-work practices, severity, task exposures and prevention effectiveness. Do not manage the number at the expense of correct case classification or employee care.
